CALL FOR ART: Pittsfield Contemporary 4: A juried show of contemporary artwork from local Pittsfield artists at the Lichtenstein Center for the Arts
Pittsfield, MA, 5/24/11 —The Lichtenstein Center for the Arts, downtown Pittsfield’s community arts center, has issued a call for artwork for the fourth annual juried exhibit of contemporary art by artists living or working in Pittsfield, entitled Pittsfield Contemporary 4. The deadline for submission has been extended until Monday, June 6th at 5pm.
For the first time this year the show includes a theme, in conjunction with the 3rd annual WordXWord Festival, a celebration of words spoken, written and sung in downtown Pittsfield, August 13-20, 2011. Artists are asked to submit works that incorporate images and themes of language, text and words. Group submissions and exterior installations are accepted. New, innovative, out-of-the-box artwork is encouraged.
The exhibit is a juried exhibition designed to showcase local Pittsfield artists and their unique works, sponsored by the City of Pittsfield Office of Cultural Development, PittsfieldContemporary.com, and the WordXWord Festival and will open on Friday, July 22nd, 2011.
There is no fee to apply for the show. Artists must submit an application form, bio, and digital images (jpeg) of their work on a CD. Slides or printed copies will not be considered. Each artist is allowed to submit up to six images of their work for consideration. Applications must be mailed or hand delivered to the Lichtenstein Center for the Arts at 28 Renne Avenue, Pittsfield, MA 01201 by Monday, June 6th at 5pm. Notification of the jurors’ decision will be sent out by email by Friday, June 10th. All artists must provide an email address or acceptable substitute.
